I absolutely love a homemade costume! The storytelling that goes into it makes it all so special.
Zoeys tutu was made with strips of cut tulle attached to ribbon.
The Best thing about a homemade costume is you probably already have all the items and you don’t even know it.
Headbands
Black Swan headband was made out of any ‘ol headband just wrapped with ribbon. The lace crown was painted black, set to dry then add fabric stiffiner. Glue crown on felt, then felt on headband. White swan was done in the same process except felt teardrops were cutout as the template then glue feathers on. I added beads along the side to add texture.
You are creative!
Eva’s swan was drawn out first (for my pattern) then traced on felt, cut, then fabric glued. I was lucky enough to have found black leather tights and black tutu that paired perfectly with her costume. For the wings I cut out the desired shape/size out of felt, then hot glued the feathers on. *be aware of how you would like the feathers to lay, some feathers were fuller then others. (Then glue) * I added ribbon onto the wings so I can tie onto the outfit. Zoeys swan was stuffed with fluff then hot glued shut because ain’t nobody got time for the needle and thread at this point. She wore it around her neck like Bjork at the Oscar’s (nice little neck pillow)
